The Quiet

There’s a thundershower outside, as if nature herself knew we wanted a reprieve from the heat.

The quiet outside my window is astounding. Normally I’d still be hearing honking and sirens at this hour (though it is not as bad as this may lead you to believe), but tonight there is none of that. Tonight, there is only the sound of rain.

The cool is welcome, but the quiet is necessary. There should be more nights like this.
